I have hemochromotosis for 18 years, and have been donating blood very often to keep ferritin down. Recently i stepped up the process and donated every 8 weeks for 1 months like clock work. my ferritin came down for over 300 to 31 and my recent cbs were all normal except for platlets were 130000. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Do you mean Hemochromatosis? If so I would recommend that you refrain from meat products for a little while as you monitor your CBC panels on a regular basis. If you have been using a variety of suppliments, its is about time you opened this subject to your Physician other wise if it was my great grand mother or father treating your ailment, they would perform a blood letting that is rarely performed these days. If you are experiencing any signs of jaundice seek further medical advice. That elevated platelet count can be treated with several blood thinning remedies; Coumodin could be just fine. But you doctor know what is best at this point. Recommend an endocrinologist consult to your doctor. Good luck, and stop worrying yourself. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
